TESTIMONIALS

Acorn Process Controls successfully  completed on time and to a high standard, the installation of a state of the art PLC & SCADA control system for our Metso aggregates processing plant in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. I would have no hesitation in recommending Acorn and in particular Steve Woodward to any prospective clients as I have found their service to be prompt & reliable.

Acorn Process Controls are at the forefront when it comes to process control. Headed up by Steve Woodward the company was commissioned to replace the outdated GEM plant control system on one of the largest quarries in the UK, Cliffe Hill Quarry in Leicestershire. Operating at close to 4.3 million tonnes per year producing a full range of aggregates, it was imperative that there was no interruption to production. Acorn managed this through operating the new system in tandem with the old GEM system, once proven it was simply a matter of a changing-over various areas of the plant during weekend shutdowns. The new system was windows based and included a lot of new features that were not available through the GEM system. The new SCADA system allowed closer control of the individual items of equipment to ensure they always work at their most efficient rate, this in turn meant better production and resulted in less down time due to plant control failures which had been present in the GEM system. This stage of the project formed part of a larger re-plant at Cliff Hill Quarry but resulted in one control centre which is state of the art and certainly brought Cliffe Hill into the 21st century. Acorn can only be complemented for their attachment in delivering this £5million stage of one of the largest project undertaken in recent years in Leicestershire.

"Having known Steve Woodward, MD of Acorn Process Controls, from previous projects in the UK and with his working experience and knowledge of the Middle East, Acorn Process Controls were the prime candidate for the electrical and process control design, construction and installation of a new project.

Working as a part of the Project team for the construction of one of the worlds largest Sand Processing Plants, the project was located deep in the desert where the working environment is both harsh and remote. These conditions required an electrical and control system as well as an installation team that could stand the tests of this environment. With excessive heat, limited water and remote access, Acorn Process Control delivered and installed a system that was robust, reliable, and efficient in the control of the operation, ensuring maximum production with minimal associated losses.

With a monitoring and remote link backup system, both operations teams and Acorn process controls can manage the processing plant, ensuring that maximum efficiency is obtained and issues that arise can be captured early, therefore preventing catastrophic breakdowns. With a new water treatment project to ensure the regular supply of economical and sustainable water, Acorn Process Controls were requested to be the electrical and process control contractors, ensuring that the interface between the Sand Processing Plant and the new water treatment plant is seamless."
